We collect the following information when you use PingPongPal:
- Account information: name, email, age, gender
- Profile data: photo, bio, preferred play times
- Location data: your device location, with permission, to show nearby tables and friends
- Game data: match results, ELO ratings, game history
- Chat messages exchanged with other users
- Device information such as push notification tokens
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the PingPongPal service
- Show you nearby tables and friends on the map
- Calculate and maintain ELO ratings
- Send push notifications for challenges, messages, and game updates
- Enable chat functionality between players
3. Location Data
We use your location to show nearby ping pong tables and, if enabled, share your approximate location with friends. You can disable location sharing in Settings. Location data is only stored temporarily and updated when the app is open.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Your profile information, including name, rank, and photo, is visible to other PingPongPal users. Chat messages are only visible to chat participants. We may share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes.
5. Data Storage
Your data is stored using Firebase on Google Cloud. Profile photos are stored in Firebase Storage. We use standard protections such as encryption in transit and at rest.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data by requesting an export through the app settings
- Rectify your data by editing your profile
- Delete your account and associated profile data
- Request data portability in a standard format
- Object to non-essential processing by contacting us
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, tables, and associated data. Some anonymized game data may be retained for leaderboard integrity.
8. Children's Privacy
PingPongPal is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
